Well, here we go. I've never blogged before, but I can't imagine a better place to start. Yesterday, team Warriors for Ross participated in the CureSearch Walk. The team was made up of Vanbros staff, 10 state Miss USA and Teen USA titleholders, the newly crowned Mrs. Kansas U.S. and Mrs. Missouri U.S., Mrs. United States, Ross' family and friends. There were even a couple of former Vanbros titleholders that returned to walk with us. Thank you, Gentry and Amy, for being so supportive. Warriors for Ross was the largest team walking with 77 members, and we raised over $5,000 that will go towards childhood cancer research. GREAT JOB WARRIORS. I'll give a shout-out to Aly Klinzing who partnered with Kansas City Fashion Week to raise over $1,200 for the cause. Pictures of the event will be posted soon.
Sitting in the stands and watching balloons being released for children who did not survive cancer was heartwrenching, but seeing the large number of precious children walk across the field and receive their medal for their bravery in continuing the fight against such a cruel disease was inspiring. That's what it's all about...having hope and continuing to fight until a cure is found and a diagnosis of cancer is no more serious than the common cold. My son, daughter-in-law and I spent countless hours at the hospital with Ross. Some of that time was spent having fun and enjoying every minute we had together...but there were definitely the very tough times. Much of the time, all we had was our hope & faith. Thank you, everyone who participated in the walk, for your support in helping to keep hope alive. What an honor it was to walk side by side with each of you!!!!
